This Privacy Policy explains what information the MoneyMeter Android app ("the app", "we", "us") handles, why, where it is stored, what is shared with third parties, how long it is kept and the choices you have.

MoneyMeter has no accounts and no login. You do not need to give us your name, email address or phone number. Your financial records are stored only on your phone. We do not have a server that receives your financial data.

1 Who we are

MoneyMeter is a personal finance app for Android. It helps you track income and expenses, manage accounts, plan budgets, track money lent and borrowed, save for goals and view reports. It works fully offline.

The app is developed and published by SoftNix, which is responsible for the information described here. You can contact us at support@softnix.bd.

2 Summary

3 Information stored on your device

Everything you enter in MoneyMeter is saved in a private database inside the app on your phone. Other apps cannot read it, and it is never sent to us. This includes:

Transactions: amount, type (expense, income, transfer), category, account, date, time and notes.
Accounts: account names (for example "Cash" or "Bank"), type, color, icon and opening balance.
Categories, budgets, savings goals and recurring transactions you create.
Lend & borrow records: the person's name, an optional phone number, amounts, dates, payments and notes. Please add another person's details only if you have a reason to record them.
Settings: your optional display name, currency, language, number format, theme, reminder time and similar preferences.
App lock: if you turn on the PIN lock, only a salted cryptographic hash of your PIN is stored, never the PIN itself.

Fingerprint / biometric unlock is handled entirely by Android. MoneyMeter never receives or stores your fingerprint or any biometric data. It only receives a "success" or "failure" result from the system.

4 Information collected automatically

MoneyMeter itself does not run its own analytics, crash reporting or tracking, and it has no server of its own. The only information collected automatically is collected by Google's advertising and consent services when ads are shown (see section 5), and by Google Play when you download the app, under Google's Privacy Policy.

If Android's built-in backup is turned on in your phone settings, Android may back up the app's data to your own Google account. This is controlled by you and by Google, not by us.

5 Advertising (Google AdMob)

MoneyMeter is free and is supported by ads served by Google AdMob. The app shows banner ads, native ads, interstitial (full-screen) ads, app-open ads, and rewarded ads that you choose to watch (for example to remove ads for 24 hours or to unlock the PDF report).

To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect:

The Advertising ID (Android "AD_ID") or app set ID;
Device information such as model, operating system version, language and screen size;
IP address, which may be used to estimate your general (country or city-level) location;
App interactions with ads (views, clicks), and diagnostic and performance data.

Your financial data is never shared with AdMob or any advertiser. Ads are not based on what you record in the app.

Consent (EEA, UK and other regions)

In regions where it is required, the app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to ask for your consent before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ads → Ad privacy choices. If you do not consent, you may still see non-personalized ads.

Your ad controls

Reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your phone's Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads).

6 What we do NOT collect

No GPS or precise location.
No contacts, call logs, SMS or messages.
No camera, microphone, photos or files, except a backup file you choose to open.
No name, email address, date of birth or password for an account (there is no account).
No bank login, card number or payment details. MoneyMeter does not connect to your bank, and the amounts you type are only records.
No selling of personal data, ever.

7 App permissions

Permission	Why it is used
Internet & network state	Only to load and show ads, and to show the ad consent form. Your financial data is not sent over the internet.
Notifications (Android 13+ asks you)	Daily reminder, budget alerts and recurring payment reminders. All of them are created on your phone. You can turn them off in Settings or in Android settings.
Advertising ID (AD_ID)	Used by Google AdMob for ads (see section 5).
Biometric	Optional fingerprint unlock, handled by Android.

When you tap "Call" on a lend/borrow record, the app only opens your phone's dialer with the number filled in. It cannot make calls by itself. Backup, restore and export use Android's own file picker, so the app can only access the file or folder you select.

8 How information is used

To show your balances, reports, charts, budgets, goals and reminders on your phone.
To add recurring transactions and send local notifications that you have turned on.
To create backups and exports when you ask for them.
To lock the app with your PIN or fingerprint if you enable it.
To show ads and keep the app free (by Google AdMob, as described in section 5).

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not build profiles from your financial data.

9 Backup, restore & export

Manual backup: creates a backup file (.mmbak) and saves it wherever you choose, for example your phone, an SD card or Google Drive. The file contains your MoneyMeter data and is not encrypted, so keep it in a safe place.
Daily auto backup: if you turn it on, the app saves a backup once a day to a folder you pick and keeps the latest 7 copies.
Excel (CSV) and PDF export: creates files with your transactions or monthly report and saves them where you choose.
Restore replaces the data in the app with the data from a backup file you select.

Once a file is saved outside the app (for example in Google Drive) or shared by you, it is handled by that service under its own privacy policy. We never receive these files.

10 Sharing of information

We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and your financial records are never shared with anyone.

The only third-party services used by the app are:

Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK): advertising, as described in section 5. Google Privacy Policy
Google User Messaging Platform: to ask for and store your ad consent choice.
Google Play services: app delivery and updates.

We may disclose information only if the law requires it. Because your financial data is stored on your phone and not with us, we normally have no such data to disclose.

11 Security

Your data is stored in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot access.
Optional PIN lock (saved as a salted hash) and fingerprint unlock, with auto-lock when you return to the app.
A one-tap "hide balance" option for privacy in public.
Release builds are protected with code obfuscation.
Ad network connections use encrypted HTTPS.

No system is 100% secure. Please protect your phone with a screen lock and keep your backup files safe.

12 How long data is kept

Your records stay on your phone until you delete them, use Settings → Delete all data, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
Backup and export files stay wherever you saved them until you delete them. Auto backup keeps only the latest 7 copies.
Advertising data collected by Google is kept according to Google's retention policy.

13 Your choices & rights

Edit or delete any transaction, account, category, budget, goal or record at any time.
Delete all data instantly from Settings → Delete all data.
Turn notifications, reminders and budget alerts on or off.
Change your ad consent in Settings → Ad privacy choices, and reset or opt out of the Advertising ID in your phone settings.
Use "Remove ads for 24 hours" by watching a rewarded video.
Uninstalling the app removes all data stored inside it from your phone.

Since we do not store your data on our servers, we cannot access, recover or delete it for you. You stay in full control. For questions, write to support@softnix.bd and we will reply within 30 days.

14 EEA / UK / US privacy rights

If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a US state with privacy laws (such as California), you have rights to access, correct, delete and restrict the use of your personal data, and to object to its processing. Because MoneyMeter keeps your data on your device, you can use most of these rights directly in the app. For data collected by Google for advertising, the legal basis is your consent (where required), and you can manage it as described in section 5 and through Google My Ad Center.

We do not "sell" or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, other than what Google AdMob does when personalized ads are allowed. You can opt out of personalized ads at any time.

15 Children

MoneyMeter is a general audience finance app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, contact us at support@softnix.bd.

16 Where data is processed

Your financial records are processed only on your own phone. Information collected by Google AdMob and UMP may be processed on Google's servers in countries other than your own, protected under Google's privacy and data-protection terms.

17 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes or when the law requires it. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is important, we will tell you inside the app. If you keep using MoneyMeter after a change, it means you accept the updated policy.
